Gayle Robertson requested $2,500 to create a start-up collection of e-books for student and teacher use in distance learning. That amount was approved. This will offer OSD the digital ability to curate collections, assign books, showcase books, track usage, participate in national reading activities and more. The expectation is that this is a start-up, pilot project and would be continued within the OSD library budget after this year.
Awards available for ACT/SAT Fees
FOSD has created a process for OSD students to apply for funds to cover the cost of taking ACT/SAT exams prior to attending college.
150th Anniversary T-shirts
Sharla Jones’ request for $2,752 for especially designed t-shirts to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the founding of Oregon School for the Deaf was approved. Every student and staff at OSD will receive a t-shirt.


OSD Sponsorship of National Deaf Education Conference Online
The Director of OSD requested that FOSD pay for OSD to become a sponsor of the National Deaf Education Conference, which is online this year. Several OSD teachers attend and get new ideas to bring back to the classroom. The Board approved $500 for this request.
Wrist and Standing Pads
FOSD was happy to award $1,032.01 to purchase wrist rests and standing pads for teachers. FOSD Board members delivered these supplies to teachers at their homes. The teachers were glad to have the support during this pandemic, when they are having to shift all of their teaching online.
