Project Narrative

The Class of 2026 has planned a trip Friday May 1 through Sunday May 3, 2026 to Sunriver, OR. They have researched and selected an Airbnb and meals that they would like to cook. Currently there are 11 seniors, 3 class sponsors and there will be 1 volunteer attending (the volunteer will be the second driver). After researching 16 different rental houses, they finally found a house that fits all 15 people with 7-plus rooms. The Airbnb house meets their needs. "This trip means so much to us as we celebrate our final year together and prepare for life after high school. Having everyone stay in one place for this celebration makes the experience more special and meaningful for our class." Kyleigh O'Connell

Project Purpose, Goals, and Objectives

The senior trip is an important opportunity for the Class of 2026 to celebrate the completion of their high school journey together in a positive and supervised environment. The trip allows students to build community, create lasting memories and reflect on their time over the years at Oregon School for the Deaf and now as a graduating class. Three adults sponsors will accompany the students throughout the trip to supervise, provide transportation with OSD vehicles and to ensure that all school behavioral expectations and policies are followed. Sponsors will set curfew and group guidelines with students.

Project Benefits

Originally, our school was willing to cover part of the cost of the senior trip, but we encouraged to seek additional support from other sources. We are asking FOSD to fund the entire senior trip that includes lodging, meals and activities: $7,286.75. This total cost breaks down to $485.78 per person. The Class of 2026 consists of 11 students. Four OSD staff members will accompany the students.

Project Evaluation

Photo and video documentation, student reflections of the class trip that cover: cooking meals, the activities students participate in, challenges encountered during the trip as well as accomplishments.
