Camp Taloali is located in the foothills of Oregon's Cascade Mountains about 20 miles east of Salem. Summer programs are designed specifically for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Children of Deaf Adults, siblings, and signing friends. Activities provide campers with a variety of challenges and achievements as well as camping and outdoor skills, fishing, horseback riding, nature study, rope courses, archery, totem pole building, environmental awareness, signing/singing, arts and crafts, theater, and communication.
Friends of OSD (FOSD) receives donations of funds specific for the sole purpose of providing a summer camping experience for students at OSD. Camp Taloali offers both overnight camping and day only camping. The total funding amount varies from year to year. The funding is used on a first come first serve system of the funds allocated for current year.
The application for Camp Taloali is available on the FOSD website in both English and Spanish or access the link listed below. Each student is asked to complete the application online. Younger students may have help from their parents or guardians. Parents must sign the application form. Students will also need to get statements of support from one OSD teacher and one OSD staff person.
The completed application including the two statements of support must be received by FOSD no later than April 1, 2025.
A joint committee of OSD staff and FOSD board members will review all applications received by the due date. Allocation of funding will be on the first come first serve bases on total funds available.
Once the students have been notified of their campership award by FOSD the online registration process for Camp Taloali must be completed. www.taloali.org/summer-camp.
