Kathleen Kenyon’s request for $485.98 to cover the cost of some of the prizes to be awarded at this year’s ASL Spelling Bee was approved. Some of the aims of the cumulative program are to increase bilingual vocabulary, reading and research skills and appreciation of both English and ASL. Many participated, worked hard all year, had fun, and a few won!
Samantha Weether and Holly Hartman were awarded $210 for Barnes and Noble gift cards and an Amazon Kindle as prizes for a project to improve the quantity and quality of reading at OSD. This activity requires the whole school to work as a team and individual students to document their progress. It also involves themed weeks to celebrate various types of literature. The elementary, middle school and all school winners are pictured above!
